Geography: The study of Geography at BCB encourages students to become the leading geographers of tomorrow in new fields (e.g. political geography, city planning, seismology, etc) whilst building on skills achieved (e.g. map making, exploration, etc).

Aims and Objectives: Secure knowledge and understanding of spatial relations e.g. how places are interconnected; Explain geographical patterns and processes, both human and physical; Develop knowledge and understanding of current events from local to global; Provide a meaningful context for developing transferable skills such as literacy, numeracy, ICT, problem solving, team work, thinking skills, map reading and enquiry; Provide opportunities through fieldwork, for the first hand information of places, environments and human behaviour; Empower all young people to become active young citizens.

Course Structure: The curriculum is rich in opportunities to engage learners in exciting contemporary issues and stimulate their enthusiasm.

KS3 (Year 7 – Year 9) follow schemes of work written around the QCA suggested schemes of work (KEY Foundations, Connections, Interactions by Nelson Thornes).

KS4 (Year 10 – Year 11) in Geography is offered as an option. The syllabus followed is the Edexcel Geography B specification. Students who chose Geography as an option begin the Edexcel Geography B specification at the end of Year 9 where they study Unit 1 of the GCSE syllabus.
